SALTILLO, Coahuila, July
27, 2008.- The selection of Costa Rica
defeated Trinidad & Tobago in straight
sets and secured the seventh place in the
NORCECA Women’s Junior Volleyball
Tournament.
In the match, which
finished 25-9, 25-13, 25-15, the only who
reached double figures was Angie Arias,
their best scorer in the event placing
herself in the nineteenth place among the
best scorers in attacks, blocking and
serves.
For the Trinidadians,
Marisha Herbert had only 8 and was the
best in that category.
Julio C. Alfaro, coach of
Costa Rica: “After participating in this
tournament, now we are very clear about
what we have to do, both teams would be
the perfect mix, with their height and the
ball-handling of my pupils, we could
aspire to much more.”
Nicholson Drakes, coach of
Trinidad & Tobago: “When we come back we
have to work with these girls, to improve
as Costa Rica had done every year, and
take advantage of this group which is very
young.”
Allison Ramirez, captain of
Costa Rica: “Very happy after taking our
first and to do it we had to complicate
the game to the Trinidadians because they
have a good attack and looks like a team
for the future.”
Sinead Jack, captain of
Trinidad & Tobago: “Today was not the best
of our matches, we all were very loose and
that affected us, we hope to do it better
in the future, and get as good or better,
than Costa Rica, who has a strong team,
and as we continue to grow we also will
gain in strength.” |
